I will keep paying as long as I keep my own job and income. If I lose it or get put on part time wages, then all bets are off, but I’m hopefully secure.
Given that I want to see my club keep going and be able to train there when this is over, continuing to pay makes sense. My instructor is also making it much easier to justify by setting up to do classes by video conference, youtube videos etc. I doubt they’ll be all that much use to me, but I then don’t feel like I’m just paying for nothing. Obviously this is harder for grappliers, but it’s something all instructors that want to keep things going should be looking at.
In the end I’m in a lucky position where, although it will hurt, I will probably do ok through this crisis (as in won’t lose my job/house/business etc.). For as long as that’s true I think I have a bit of a duty to help the people I’m in a business relationship with get through things too.
So, similarly, I’ll keep paying my cleaner even though she won’t be able to come and I won’t really need her as I’ll be working from home instead of all hours in an office for as long as I can.
